SCAM: Tumblr harvesting scam
The “Adult Content” scam targets account login details with the following message:
“Adult Content: You must be over 18 to enter! Please verify your age below. [Login form] Yes, I am over 18 and willing to view adult content. This tumbleblog contains adult oriented content and contains images, language and other explicit material and you certify that you are 18 or over (21 in certain areas) to view.”
Do not enter your username and password
If details are entered, you will be redirected to a counterfeit login page to enter their details. The whole login box is nothing more but a picture with a link to fake Tumblr website. Sharing this kind of information is especially dangerous if you use the same password to several accounts. Since Tumblr login name is email address you used to register, scammers may get access to your email account as well.
The fraud is not only collecting account details but it also posts the fake “Adult Content” image on its victims’ blogs thus spreading the scam further.
If you have already clicked on such an image and entered your details, make sure to change your password as soon as possible. If you can not access your blog, use email to reset the password. Also, make sure to remove posts that were not made by you.
